Masks of War is a historical short story that’s fascinating, compelling-and a freebie on Amazon at the moment. Written by one of my favorite authors, I may be a bit biased in how much I enjoyed this, but I will say that for those fans of Diana Gabaldon’s Lord John Grey.
For Lieutenant Grey, after the loss of a leg, the Great War was over… leaving him fighting another war within. The Tin Noses Shop gave him purpose, but it wasn’t home. What he needed was a little hope, and perhaps a little magic.
It was a bit of a quick read at less than fifty pages, but it was a good one and I really liked it. It was a bit sad at times, and with some hefty duty war themes so beware o that. Aside from that, I don’t think I have any further warnings for the really nice short story. I also found the historical aspect of it fascinating, as I mentioned earlier, and the author left a link to an article of how she got inspired to write the story:

I’m unsure of how long it’ll be free, so as the title suggests, you might get it while you can!
Until next time,
